Communiqué of the Knights of Malta (KMFAP)
Budapest, 11th June 2014 ,Wednesday (OS) – The press release of Michael von Habsburg-Lothringen, Hungarian Ambassador of the Order of Malta (SMOM) – founded by the Vatican, issued on the 6th June, contains false statements, in which he tried to denigrate the ancient, almost a thousand years old Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP).
The Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) the most firmly rejects and refutes the false allegations of Michael von Habsburg-Lothringen, Ambassador of SMOM. Our Order is for nearly 1,000 years in the service to the needy and even today exerts significant humanitarian activities in Asia, Africa and Europe. In the courts of numerous countries KMFAP has won lawsuit against the SMOM, which was also classified by a final judgement of an Italian court in 1955 as a Religious Order belonging to the Holy See, while recognizing and admitting that our Order is the legitimate heir of the approximately 1000-year-old ancient sovereign order.
The State of KMFAP is recognised by many UN member states of several continents, with whom the Knights of Malta maintain bilateral diplomatic relations.
Contrary to the ambassador's statement, the Hungarian prosecutor's office does not carry out any proceedings neither against our Knights of Malta Order, nor against our State, and can not do that! Regarding the use of names the Municipal Prosecutor's Office submitted action against the Hungarian Association of the Knights of Malta (KMFAP), which was rejected by the court of first instance in its judgement!
