Generosity of the Knights of Malta (KMFAP) by supporting Casa Emanuel orphanage in Angola

In a heart-warming demonstration of compassion and commitment FEMERAID International Angola, in cooperation with the Consulate of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) in Angola, recently made a significant donation to CASA EMANUEL, a vital institution in the Zango district of Luanda, Angola.

CASA EMANUEL serves as a safe haven for children aged 0 to 17, who are orphans or have been abandoned by their parents. The facility provides shelter, care and hope for some of the most vulnerable members of society. Recognizing the importance of this mission, the local Dames and Knights, and FEMERAID International Angola have stepped forward to support this institution and ensure a brighter future for the children it shelters.

The Christmas donation, which included essential supplies, was personally delivered by Lady Vanderleia Bettencourt, Honorary Consul for the Provinces of Malange and Luanda Norte of the KMFAP Embassy to the Republic of Angola, and by Sir Carlos Bettencourt, Director of FEMERAID International for the Provinces of Luanda Norte, Malange and Bié of Angola.

In addition to this gesture of kindness, the Bettencourt family has consistently supported CASA EMANUEL through a unique initiative: three times a week, a large cistern truck from their company delivers fresh, drinkable water to the institution. This ongoing support ensures that the children have access to clean water, a basic necessity often taken for granted but essential for health and well-being. Through these efforts, Lady Vanderleia, Sir Carlos and their team embody the spirit of generosity and service that defines the Knights of Malta.

The attached videos highlight this recent act of humanitarian aid, which is the cornerstone of the work carried out by the Knights of Saint John KMFAP. Their mission is deeply rooted in providing assistance to those in need, promoting solidarity and improving the lives of vulnerable communities worldwide.

As the holiday season approaches, this donation holds special significance. It symbolizes not just the material support provided, but also the message of hope and care extended to the children of CASA EMANUEL. Thanks to the tireless efforts of FEMERAID International Angola and the KMFAP Consulate in Angola, these children will experience a Christmas touched by kindness, benevolence and goodwill, singing with joy and praying for a blessed holiday.

This act of generosity is a reminder of the profound impact that dedicated individuals and organizations can have on their communities. The Knights’ unwavering commitment to supporting those in need exemplifies the values of humanity, solidarity and service that the Order holds dear. May their example inspire others to extend a helping hand to the needy, ensuring that no child is left behind, especially during this season of giving.

May the Year 2025 bring Health, Peace and Prosperity to all.
